Phone and tablet use
English spelling practice on a phone: keyboard and progress tips
Open a stage and tap the input box below the picture to use your phone’s English keyboard. Enter individual letters rather than a suggested whole word. On phones, closing the keyboard pauses the typing timer until you return to the input.

Start with the visible input box
- Open Petket in the phone’s browser and try the free first stage.
- Tap the letter-input box at the bottom of the game.
- Switch the system keyboard to English letters.
- Type the word one letter at a time while watching the tiles above.
Phone play presents one word at a time. Keep the device upright so the picture, clue and letter tiles have room above the keyboard. The glowing ring shows the time remaining even when the word has little space to fall.
If typing behaves unexpectedly
If no keyboard appears, tap the input again. If text is being composed in another language, change the system keyboard to English. Avoid pasting an entire word or tapping a whole-word suggestion: the activity is designed for individual letter entry.
Keyboard correction and suggestion behaviour can vary by device and browser. If a problem persists, note the device, browser and keyboard used, as well as the action that failed. Try the free stage before deciding whether the device suits the child’s practice.
Continue on a computer later
Sign in with the same email and allow the progress to sync. The account carries stage progress, companions, growth and purchase access across devices and languages. A language change does not require another pass.
Guest progress belongs to the current browser. Before clearing site data, changing browser or moving to another device, sign in and confirm the sync has succeeded. Sign out after using a shared device.
Match the device to the activity
| Device | Useful for | Remember |
|---|---|---|
| Computer + physical keyboard | Spelling and touch-typing practice | Start slowly and use comfortable home-key positions. |
| Phone + screen keyboard | Meaning and letter-by-letter spelling | Tap the input first; screen typing does not train physical-keyboard finger positions. |
Tablet input can depend on whether a hardware keyboard is connected. Treat the first free stage as a practical device check, rather than assuming all keyboard configurations behave identically.
Common questions
Do I need to install an app?
No dedicated app is required. Petket runs in a web browser.
Will I lose time when I close the phone keyboard?
The phone input flow pauses the typing timer while the keyboard is hidden. Focus the input again to continue.
